People are often otherkin for religious reasons or as coping mechanisms for traumatic shit, sometimes even just for fun. Fiction kin is basically done for the same reasons except i've never heard of anyone doing it for religious reasons per say but definitely for coping and fun. It's just another way for people who identify as such to basically say they connect with that character/creature.

I also find anti otherkin/fictionkin tend to be really hateful, rude, and ignorant for no reason. I could understand if their (otherkin/fictionkin) view or activities were harming someone, but they're not. So I guess all the antis out there- have fun being rude conceited pricks and hurting people for literally no reason other than "lel my opinion is more important than your well being lel" it really does just make you look like a gross person.
