Spent some time tonight just finishing up the line-work on a vent piece I started a few weeks ago.

Sometimes Nathan is a better vessel to express certain emotions than Tala, it probably helps that he's a bit closer to who I am (flaws and all) than Tala is being she's my "ideal" self.

Also an excuse to share a bit on Nathan's character, and who he is.

He's generally non-confrontational and a bit shy, preferring to stay quiet and remain as positive as he can. Naturally, that doesn't always work. Sometimes things just get too overwhelming and everything he tries to keep within and to himself overflows the container he tries to hide it away in (not healthy!). Thus why he can exhibit on rare occasion a really bad temper, and isn't the best at wrangling the volatile emotions once they escape his clutches.

One of the biggest reasons for frustration, anger and sadness in his life is he wants desperately to be a hero. He likes humans and desires very much to be the guardian his kind was born to be. In the modern world though, he and his brothers cannot safely coexist with the humans around them. This often means he really, really struggles with the picture his physical appearance paints for humans. Teeth, talons, and existing in the darkness don't help him.

So often times when he does try to help, he's still seen as a monster by those he seeks to protect. Met with either pure fear or a combination of fear and aggression.

Having those things directed at him by the people he only wishes would see him as a protector and a good guy manifests into frustrated sadness and anger.

"If the world only wants to see a monster, then who am I to deny them?" - Nathan

I put this poor boy through some angst sometimes. All in all it does help me add more depth to him.
