Description To say Inanis' time at the Dojo was boring was an understatement.

It was downright painful for him.

The first week had been...interesting...if one considered cleaning interesting. Inanis only stayed and did his duties simply out of curiosity of the weapons. Such instruments were always kept out of sight and out of the hands of wynglings like himself. He honestly wanted to get a dagger or sword when he grew up, simply cause they were forbidden to him now.

The second week came the infamous dodgeball week...aka where half the class pelted the other half with balls. The chaos that unfolded caused many injury and panic....and got them all in trouble. To the grey wyngling that was the most fun he had to have in the Dojo, he was vicious in the game, and when the punishment was for them all to wear a puckoo egg pouch until the test was over....he groaned and resented the teacher. 'Honestly, what did she expect? We are kids, not trained adults' Inanis thought bitterly as the third week all they did was practice gentle slow motion tossing of one another. He was about to throw the egg at the teacher but stopped himself each
time.

But now that it was test time, Inanis knew he couldn't keep this up. He was gonna be paired with some adult and have to teach them how to be 'gentle'. He wanted to shout out and scream how this was all unfair, hell, his father signed him up for this stuff since it was that or he would drive him up the wall.

He sighed.

'Okay...just got to get this over with. Then I can spend the rest of summer in the library', he thought as he was paired with a large brown quad for this test.

"Greetings kid, my name's Lorcan," The Brown adult spoke to him, he was calm and had a peaceful aura around him...it clashed with Inanis own dark one.

"Inanis," He said in a short tone.

"So Inanis, tell me what do you have to teach me," Lorcan said with a content smile.

"Beats me, I didn't think I would last this long here," Inanis retorted in a monotone voice, "But if you must learn anything let us talk about some equations and such, it would be much more productive then pretending to talk about how gentleness is something I understand."

Lorcan frowned and looked at Inanis question, "Inanis being gentle is...well important, you can't just...not know what it is."

Inanis glared at the brown quad as he then cleared his throat, "'Gentle, mild in temperament or behavior; kind or tender; moderate in action, effect, or degree; not harsh or severe.'...I know what gentle is Lorcan, I am not stupid. I simply do not understand why it's being forced down my throat."

There was nothing but silence for a few minutes as Lorcan thought. Inanis expected some sort of retort, a scolding...but instead, Lorcan began to calmly talk.

"Well knowing the meaning of gentle is a good start, and it's honestly up to you to be, well gentle. While it's important to not always be tender, you also can't always be so harsh. If you are then no one will stick with you long."

Inanis opened his mouth to protest....but then closed it. Thinking about it....was...he being too harsh? He simply wanted to learn....and didn't want others to get in his way.

The wind blew gently as Lorcan continued, "Think of yourself as this wind, right now it's gentle and nurturing, its helping seeds fly away to new places, it gives us comfort from the sun. But it also can be harsh, blowing fast and hard, blowing things away, causing destruction.  Each day the wind is different, just like us, but it's important to know that we can choose to be a gentle breeze or a harsh wind storm that can harm others."

Inanis listened to Lorcan....part of him wanted to say that he was just speaking gibberish....but another part understood what he meant. Inanis thought about what the words meant underneath it all...maybe he could learn a bit more by keeping himself open to learning from others. Being gentle seemed to be important to others....and he...he didn't really want to harm anyone. He...he wanted to be a scientist, which at its core was to help others and each other learn about the universe and such.

Inanis sighed and frowned, he hadn't really been helping others and such... he simply had just been reading books and being a meanie to others who got in his way.

"I...I think I understand Lorcan....thank you." Inanis spoke with uncertainty, " I ...I guess I haven't been open to learning from others...like this before."

Locran smiled at the grey wyngling," Its alright, sides, now that I know the meaning of gentle, I can help others  like you understand it a bit more."
