UPDATE, December 14th, 2014: I changed the proportions and layout a bit so it could potentially work better as an actual poster.----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, this was a long-time coming, but I finally finished page two. There are many many pages to come. The next ones will feature the human characters.
Once again, this is all a prelude to my plans to adapt a certain truly awesome pony fanfiction into a comic series. www.fimfiction.net/story/71660…

Well in GI Joe, the threat of death was only ever meant to be an after thought. The action was the main focus. The story, if there was one, was centered around something entirely different than the concern of death.
In this G1 MLP episode, Mimic's "death" was the center of the plot, and the whole potential consequence to be avoided.

Exactly! That's what I mean. Why does a show with "violence" (or as violent as G.I. Joe ever got) we never encountered a plot about the possibility of death, but My Little Pony, a show meant to be about love, and friendship and pastel colored horses that sang once in a while, we get an episode centered around the possibility that one of said horses may day if actions are not taken to prevent it?

Well, a show about "love" and caring would expect the audience to CARE, if a character were threatened with death.
While a show that uses violence as a form of light-hearted entertainment would just consider such a thing a downer, and out of place.

You are absolutely right... and now made me see 80s cartoons in a whole new perspective.
And it would explain better why I found the death of Optimus Prime in the Transformers movie so depressing. The show was a violent one about fighting sentient robots that transformed into cars, but none ever died or exploded on the show. Then we have the movie and several die, including Optimus Prime...
(And I mean the 80s animated film with Leonard Nimoy as Ultramagnus, not the new one)

I'm sorry, but those movies were just terrible. Optimus's death had no emotional resonance for me because I never felt like I was watching real characters. I never even saw the third film, knowing at that point that being shallow and all around terrible was apparently it's MO.
Now, the death of Dinobot in the second season of Beast Wars.... THAT was sad! I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried at that one. Because those writers knew how to write decent characters, that made us (the audience) actually give a crap.

Well, I was 10 when I watched the movie so I didn't realize it at the time how bad the movie actually was, but as an adult I can say that yes, the movie was bad and the characters felt alien. But when I was 10 Optimus Prime was the peak of what being cool and awesome meant, and what you pretended to be at the school's playground, so it did affect me when he died in the movie.
Beast Wars I saw during my late teens, and yes, the death of Dinobot was a very touching moment. Especially his last words, he never asked "remember me as a hero" but "let history judge me". Even his last words were "badass".

I can understand that. I'm sure if I watched campy things like Power Rangers originally as an older viewer, I never would have liked them either. The nostalgia factor can be powerful.
But as a general fan of the Transformers franchise, those movies felt like such a missed opportunity. Instead of giving us true likeable, memorable characters, fighting a fight that meant something (as with Beast Wars, for the most part), all we get is a pointless puffed up action flick, full of tasteless and unfunny jokes, and a "plot" that makes NO sense.... Sorry, I was just really disappointed in those movies.
And yeah, Dinobot was an indomitable badass to the end.

These are amazing! I was born in 1990 so I don't remember the 80's show all that well, but after looking at all of them I realized that me and Paradise are a LOT alike!

Once again, they all look really lovely, and the information written about each pony was both interesting and fun to read. I even learned something new: I didn't know Lofty was the best at tolerating thin air and cold atmosphere of high altitudes, it was cool to know.
As stated above, they all look lovely, though I must admit I particulary like Mimic, Paradise and Lofty here. Just thought I'd tell you that^^

I very much like how you draw their wings! I had a Northstar baby when I was younger, and she was my favorite pony c: I DO hope you carry on with this plan because I love what you've done with them. Now that I watch the old series and movies all the characters seem too plain, but you captured some essence and made them more alive 8D

I have not heard of the Pony POV series, but I just skimmed the TVtropes entry. It sounds intriguing, and apparently popular enough that I'm actually surprised I've never heard of it.
I take it you're the author? I guess I'll have to check it out sometime, but it looks like a lot of material to get through. XD
Thank you very much for the praise on these designs. My intent is to give the G1 series new life, to some degree, with updated G4-style designs, and elaborated character descriptions. And this will all serve as a resource for my upcoming comic series based on the "A Might Demon Slayer Grooms some Ponies" fanfiction, which is a G1/G4 crossover.

G1 Spike has not made an appearance in the fic so far. I might include him as a background character in the comic, but at the moment he is low priority for these character sheets. I'd have to do a separate sheet just for non-pony G1 Characters.

Speaking of that fan fiction, if there's a comic series out of it, my head will explode like a volcanic for Nostalgia, especially Megan. And hey, I also wish someone in the SFM community can recreate Applejack's story on she rescued the Twinkled Eyed ponies.

I prefer it so, especially the Applejack story. I can think of the comic is going to be intense such as the crystal throne explodes and then the crystal's magic glows the ponies and hence they got their twinkled eyes. Although the horror part of the movie is AJ encounter the ponies are blind, we know that, but we can tell the eyeballs are purely white, whitest of the lot and Snowdrop isn't close to that.

This is down the road, to say the least, but my plan was not to make the eyeballs pure white, but just extremely pale, so as to imply the presence of cataracts.
It is not my intention to EXACTLY imitate the description by the original author in all instances. I might add the occasional artistic flare of my own.

Oh yeah, sorry, pure white means it'll shine like someone in an Avatar state. But most importantly is the eyeballs will not have their irises as though it was born blind.
So anyway, we shall see on that one. Would love to have a look and start off with that AJ comic the remake.
