(note: charon is pluto's largest moon, the others being hydra, styx, nix, and kerberos)-----
charon and pluto are mutually tidally locked to eachother, so they're sometimes considered a binary dwarf planet system
pluto was discovered in 1930 and was considered a planet for awhile, until in 2006 when the IAU decided to redefine the meaning of a planet; to simplify it, a planet must
1. orbit a star
2. have enough mass to be round
3. clear its orbit (pluto does not clear its orbit, and therefore is deemed a dwarf planet along with other TNOs and Ceres)
