Description

(Hello everybody! We're finally back with more Halo fanfiction! I've been waiting on a model commission and it's finally been completed. Chapter Four is almost done as well so we've got plenty of material to share! Stay tuned, let me know what you think, and enjoy!)

{-Personal log, LCpl Judas T. Morrison. Date Log Created: June 18th 2548}

       The past few days of space travel have been anything but boring. Considering what we went through with that recent campaign, there has been plenty to do onboard the Heart of Valor. Surprisingly I'm doing alright, all things considered. Maybe it's because I have spent a bit more time socializing with Corporal Al-Fulani but it could be my duties keeping me busy. Either way, I haven't been stuck in my head all that much so I guess that's a win. We're supposedly enroute to a nearby colony to restock and resupply. By the sounds of it we'll be finally getting some much needed R & R. Can't say enough how ready I am for that. I can only clean the armory racks or reorganize the weapons in order of serial number so many times. It will be nice to kick back, relax, maybe grab a few drinks or something. Anything but shooting at the Covenant. Hopefully that means this log will be short.

     {UPDATE, June 20th 2548}: Turns out the R & R is a no-go. I can't tell if part of me knew it was all a load of bull or if that's just the pessimist in me. At any rate, none of us were happy about being mobilized again and guess who was at the forefront? You got it. Good 'ol Alpha-Six. Sandover got us off our asses real quick-that's for sure. The briefing was rather short and not like it needed to be long anyway. Sandover made it very clear that A-6 was tasked with a priority pickup of an HVI, escorted by local PD as not to cause suspicion of the locals. Don't think seeing ODSTs strolling through town is normal any time of the day but maybe that's just me.

     Oddly enough the mission didn't seem crucial or pertinent-we weren't even flown down to the surface. While the Heart of Valor was undergoing her maintenance and resupply, we simply just... took the space elevator. I haven't seen the inside of one since I was accepted into the ODST program. It was kind of surreal to see one again and not have to drive enemy forces out of or away from it. On top of that it seemed as if everything was normal here. We just….walked right on through and took our leisurely ride down to the surface terminal. While it was odd how urgent this pickup was, nothing else seemed out of place. Still, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was up.

     Once we arrived on the surface, not much changed. I half expected a Covenant squad to be waiting for us or hell, even Insurrectionists. That'd have been quite a stretch considering activity had died down in recent years. I'm just glad I was proven wrong about expecting trouble. Things were simply just business as usual with military and government personnel bustling around. That was until we were on our way out of the complex. A large group of military personnel were being ushered inside along with an Army escort. I immediately noticed a lot of them were top brass and that caught my attention but I knew better than to stare. It was incredibly odd to see that many officials at once but I didn't think anything more of it at the time. I just wanted to get this mission over with in the hopes we still had some time to kill before leaving port.
