I think the bat's in here because while they aren't blind we have the phrase "blind as a bat" and since Snowdrop is blind I think the artist thought it would fit here very well.

Well the phrase comes from how bats are more dependent on echolocation then their actual sites. That's why the phrase "blind as a bat" was invented because bats almost literally never use their eyes.
