I decided to create a "simple to build" (but rather expensive) energy supply so the player can create emergency energy supplies, or even autark supplies for more distant conveyor networks. Even though more expensive, it's a valid alternative since the standard (tier 1) energy supply requires it's own logistic chain (Water extractor, refinery to split water in H and O2 and a fuel cell powerplant).The building can be constructed quickly by the small construction unit, so it offers fast energy supply at the start of a mission.
One Collector is able to power most turrets, so it allows to build guard towers outside the base parameter. To this point, I'm not sure if I will add a day/night cycle, though this building would be the first reason for it. But then I will need some sort of energy storage too for the night cycles.
Also very important, this image shows the first official view of the conveyor system that is needed to connect buildings. The conveyors transport materials in the upper tube, and fluids and energy in the lower smaller tube. Disconnected buildings will not be functional. Protecting the conveyor is essential, but of course if can also be the weak spot in the enemies defense.
