Perhaps a little. In terms of story, I could theoretically pull off killing a character early, but considering how long everyone else will live, that will make it awkward and seem like I killed a character off only for a reaction from my audience. Aside from that, if I covered everyone's reactions to the death, the only ones that it will really have an impact on are Spain and Italy, as the others are not present and would remain in denial about Romano. It wouldn't help that bodies do disappear when left alone. I'm also trying to write this as if it weren't targeted at people from within the fandom, which means that I have to properlyΒ introduce "new" characters. As such, killing Romano would literally achieve nothing. No emotional reaction due to not knowing Romano and confusion, since I've literally just introduced a character so he could die, the death not even influencing any further events. It might reboot Spain's personality, but we don't even know what's up with him yet and Italy is a bag of grief anyway, nothing would change with him, other than perhaps becoming more mentally unstable.
... Well, that's my two pennies on the subject anyway. I could be horrifically wrong and that "plot twist" might actually be a genius move to make. What do I know.
