Aahh Finally online for good again, and coming officially back with my very own Spinel OC!

Now I've seen a few people... well basically doing the same thing Canon Spinel had with the tear-stripes and giving them a second evil look.

Now I am certain BEFORE the movie there were already many gem OC's that were abandoned and even went "villain-mode" because of it, but to be honest with people doing that now with their spinel OC's (and I only mean the spinel's that came after the movie and are based on Canon Spinel's gem design (body/face/gem shape)) is a little, urgh I just say it un-original.
I'm sorry, look I think Spinel's design, backstory, and character is as interesting just like most people do, but if some people rip it off just like that for no good reason then, well it was cool with Canon Spinel, it just feels somewhat lazy to me.

Now I actually only gave my Spinel that whole "had something bad happened to her" side to make a point, she does NOT have the eyelashes changing to tear looking like stripes like Canon Spinel, she does not go "evil/villain mode"
For the case that something LIKE the abandonment from Canon Spinel would happen to her, she would NOT turn into a villain NOR seek revenge, why you ask?

Because she's NOT Canon Spinel, she's a different person with a different personality. Simply said she's her own character, the kind of character that would blame herself for being abandoned, thinking she wasn't good enough, that she did something wrong
(I am aware that Canon Spinel most likely to some degree thought the same, but the main focus was to destroy Steven's happily ever after, as she said it herself, she came here to let out her anger on some strangers)

Now Goldy Locks (A nickname one of my close friends gave her) has a different kind of physical change should her second form appear, no stripe-tears lashes and no opening the buns. Granted I gave her the same "rotates gem" since for Canon Spinel's heart-shaped gem it made artistically a very interesting depiction of her "change of heart" so to speak.
For Goldy, I intentionally choose a different gem-cut. I looked up actual Spinel gems and really liked the tear dropped-shaped ones, mostly because, well it's teardrop-shaped, so it could be symbolically used like the heart-shape that was used for Canon Spinel. Again one can always use inspiration, but one shouldn't just plainly copy the direct source with no changes.

I am not sure if the "Gem-rotates when something traumatic happens" is something exclusive to Spinel gems, or to all gems, or only certain gems. Never the less I did it for mine too but trying to keep in the "change of heart" symbolism, for her more fitting with her constant self-blame and self-loathing, and of course her constant crying over her loss.

Now I am not sure if the Tear-Stripes on Canon Spinel's face are in fact her eyelashes or if they are just stripes on her skin, I hope the second.
For my Spinel, she has black tears, actual black tears, not translucent but thick and almost ink-like. So much that if she would actually experience something as traumatic as the abandonment of Canon Spinel all the (symbolic) crying would end up turning her eyes purely black.

Now if she would only cry normally over something none-traumatic the white of her eyes would only turn black, and after a while when she stopped crying turn back to normal.
