Description
Like any other railroad, the Evergreen Glades Railroad offers excursions on many of their routes, sponsored by the railroad or by various organizations and charity groups. These include trips down branch lines that hardly see passenger trains, lines that are regularly used or even trips on the mainline, and of course venturing off EGRR tracks to neighboring railroads with their own locomotives and coaches. On one such occassion, EGRR #1225 "The Spirit of Christmas" was assigned to haul an excursion from Christianville to Saint Arthur as part of an excursion chartered by the nearby model railroad club in Christianville. Unfortunately, not all went according to plan as the 1225 had to wait for a number of freight trains outside of Woodland Valley before proceeding towards Harper's Ferry on the return trip, but it did offer the passengers a chance to see the night time scenery through the valley on the train's return journey. Once arriving at Christianville, the engine will drop off the passengers, drop off the coaches and spend the night in Christianville before returning to regular duties.
