A Dreadnought is a heavy armored unit with in the space marine armory; but do not mistaken the Dreadnought for a machine for he a battle-brother, much like those around him. A Dreadnought is a space marine who was critically wounded during battle, and was entombed within this iron sarcophagus so he may serve the Emperor once more.

Some dreadnoughts have seen many events happened in the 40k universe. They had seen the Horus Heresy, to the Fall of Cadia. They are beacons of wisdom, so when one dies it's a heavy blow to the chapter they serve for they lost a prized piece of history.
