I recently watched "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" in theatres and it was so damn epic! I love how Akira Toriyama rebooted this character.
While classic Broly was a psychotic and sadistic bastard, he also was a crybaby, hating Goku for something so ridiculous. But after all, he was an impressive fighter and worth to become canon.

I agree. I love OG Broly more but I will admit that he has problems and the new version has done some justice with the concept of Broly.

I honestly like classic Broly, he's an impressive enemy and deserves to be called the legendary super saiyan. He even kept his sanity after his transformation, one thing that New Broly didn't handle. But his reason to hate Goku was the most stupid to imagine. It wasn't well though-out and he lost most of his potential, especially because of the fact that he's not a canon-character and was meant to be hated and die. New Broly instead has an understandable character development, living on a planet where it wasn't of importance to be smart (although he was really cute in his Tarzan-like manner xD) and why he's so loyal to his father.
I'm very grateful, that he becomes friends with Goku (even though Cheelai said otherwise) and got a chance to learn and develop himself even more.

Old Broly was much more intelligent and calculating in the first movie. He retained his mind in his LSSJ form and fought like a real fighter (bit of a Savage, like he says to Turles in XV2, "Sayian's don't care about finesse, there's only battle")
And his lines from "You're all complete and utter waste of sayian blood" to gloating Goku by saying "Poor Goku, still not comfortable with the idea of dying".
He is/was the epitome of Sayian, blood thirsty, ruthless warrior and conqueror.
He lost his mind in the second movie after losing to Goku and being in stasis
In XV2, he becomes normal and even compliments the Sayian player after reaching max relationship as mentor and completing his training that 'perhaps you are worthy of Sayian blood after all'

I never played XV2 (don't liked the predecessor much), but i have to admit, that this sound pretty nice.
Also i agree, that classic Broly deserved the title "legendary super saiyan" way more than his Super reboot (i don't know how it was in other dubs, but in the german dub he never really was called the legendary super saiyan). Escpecially because he was a blood-thirsty and sadistic maniac, but still with enough intelligence to know exactly what he did, unlike new Broly, who was more like an oozaru just without the transformation respectively in form of a super saiyan.
The one and only thing, that bugs me about classic Broly (and was the initial idea to that pic) was his reason for hating Goku, but it's also no wonder why the movies creators took this simple reason. He was just meant to be another one of those non canonical baddies. His only reason for existence was to be hated and killed, and that was already back then a major waste of his potential. Then he got a second chance, and although he lost total control, he still stayed the smart expert-combatant he was before. But he just fought against kids, no Vegeta and Piccolo around. I won't mention his third coming, because this wasn't Broly anymore. Broly never stood a chance to become better in the initial movie franchise, while the games took the opportunity to make more out of him (like his super saiyan 3 appearance in Raging Blast).
So even i admit, that i prefer new Broly because of his backstory and the potential to became better in a future movie/series, i never would say, that classic Broly is worse. I think they're equal in their own ways, classic as the true legendary super saiyan and as a formidable foe, and new as a potential new ally for Goku and Vegeta.

Well, there's many theories of why he hates Goku so much, the popular one is that the only thing he heard all these time after birth was crying of Goku and then doctors testing on him because of his high power level, then king vegeta stabbing him. He actually hates both Goku and Vegeta (like he says in FighterZ if Vegeta is on the team "Lending me a hand will not erase the sins...you and your father have committed!") and when fighting Vegeta he actually shows more malice than fighting Goku ("I'll make sure is your death is slow and painful")
Broly lost his mind after all those years trapped in ice and became a maniac with the huge amount of Zenkai boost muddled his fragile state of mind, which his Sayian nature kept in check. so he went off in a rampage

It's hard to compare new and old Paragus. They were pretty the same guy, just with the difference, that new Paragus could easier handle Broly. I don't know if that makes him better, just because new Broly kinda liked his Daddy.

And it was that they changed Broly’s Conflict to being a victim to child abuse and being used as w means to an end really made me love Broly as well and I expect the 90s Broly would eventually fade into obscurity.

I prefer the new Broly too. He's awesome! I also like the old Broly, because he was an impressive enemy after all, but after watching the DBS movie, it's more than clear, that he had a big lack of characterization. Old Brolys right to exist was just to hated and to die in battle, while new Broly got an entire plot to develop his character. And i'm really looking forward to see more of him.

Good work with the drawing although there are parts I do not like with the new Broly. The legendary super Saiyan should not be a nice guy and there is also the fact that unlike in his first movie appearance he does not have control of himself at full power. He also goes super saiyan for the first time in this movie where as before he had done it multiple times before he did it in his first movie before he even meet the Z-warriors. In the new movie Paragus slaps the control collar on him because he is supposedly uncontrollable but as we see latter in the movie he is normally a nice guy so why did Paragus come up with the control collar in this movie timeline in the first place.
Lastly in his first movie we do not see Brolly's real personality until he breaks the control collar and while you can clearly see his hate for Goku in what he says and how he acts he is a rational warrior at full power, it is just that he has a clear love of fighting and killing to a degree rare even for a Saiyan and getting to Kill Goku is Icing on the cake for him. Still I am interested where this new version of the character is taken, hopefully he becomes a bit more battle hungry.

I can agree with your arguments. It can be said, that both Brolys have their pro and cons. As you said, the title of the legendary super saiyan fits more to the classic Broly. Also he had totally control over himself everytime and was a born monster with a love of killing and destruction. He was a fearful opponent, putting everyone to the brink of despair. Even Vegeta trembled in fear (while in the new movie he wanted to be the first to fight him). That made classic Broly a remarkable opponent. The only thing i don't like was his reason why he hates Goku, but that's easy to cope with, because his hate showed up his true person.
On the other hand new Broly could be seen as "the opposite Goku" (or more precisely saiyan). Goku was primary aggressive, like every saiyan, until he fell on his head. Broly instead is a peaceful man, but was forced since his childhood to fight strong beasts on a harsh planet. And that's why i think he got this collar from Paragus. His scars are the proof, that he was hurt (seemingly) multiple times. Maybe he lost controll before and Paragus feared his own sons blind anger. It also was a bit "fast told" how he first transformed to super saiyan (even if it was a nice twist, that Frieza remembered how Goku transformed).
I really like both Brolys, but i prefer DBS Broly, because he "deserved" to live, if you understand. Classic Broly was made to die, while new Broly got a whole backstory. And i think, now that he's popular to the Z-Warriors and and Frieza's army and also has friends to protect, he will be forced to fight more in the future. I'm really looking forward to it.
Btw was new Broly called legendary super saiyan in the english dub of the DBS movie? In the german sub (we don't have a dubbed version yet) he never was called that. His strength was supposed to be the result of a mutation.

I personally like the new Broly much better then his old counterpart, he is such a cool nice guy and he doesn't hate Goku like classic Broly hate Goku, i always hated classic Broly so much with a burning hate towards him
classic Broly is just nothing but a muscle brain, crybaby, dumbass who hates Goku for stupid reasons about his constant crying, his personality is pretty boring to be perfectly honest, he didn't had any reasin to destroy planets, he is just a psychopathic asshole who destroys planets for fun without giving a reason to why he done it, what piss me off even more about classic Broly is that he won't shut the hell up with him saying "Kakarot!!"
Like i said, new Broly is a far better version then classic Broly, sorry but i just hate old Broly so much because i find him annoying

I can totally understand your arguments. Personally i don't hate Classic Broly, but as you say: he has no character. As a person, Classic Broly doesn't have any other emotions than hate and his single tracked brain can't give him other thoughts then "destroy Kakarott and everything else, but most importantly Kakarott".
New Broly got way more depth in his character development and it's even not over yet, so i'm really looking forward to see him in Action in the Future. Maybe he learns to control his Power and become the third saiyan besides Goku and Vegeta, who rescues the day.

He actually IS a nice guy, that's true. But i think his character development isn't finished now. He's a more complex character, who lived decades stranded on a planet, not able to advance social behavior until he met Cheelai and Lemo. And he was used by his father like a fighting dog, not able to control his power and ending in a state of rage like an ozaru (like Paragus said).
Both Goku and Frieza got an interest on Broly, so the movie was just the beginning of his story. Also Broly got something to protect, Cheelai and Lemo. It's not possible to say, how new Broly will evolve, but in my opinion, i hope that he becomes a regular companion to Goku and Vegeta.
In comparison classic Broly truly was (and still is) a formidable character, even for a movie character who was developed just to be beaten at the end and truly deserved his fame. And he also deserves the description as legendary super saiyan, while new Broly never was called that throughout the movie. He was a literal born monster, pure evil, only enjoying to kill and destroy.
Both versions of Broly are likeable characters, it's just a matter of opinion. I like both characters, but i prefer the new Broly because he's a sympathetic person. But i understand, why other people prefer classic Broly.
