Description

I think the logo of "Jintan" is also an excellent example of Japanese product design. It's a long-lasting product that has been around since the Meiji era. My grandfather used to use it. It's like a combination of mint and Ohta's stomach acid, which are common nowadays.

The product name "Jintan" is said to have been conceived by a Chinese scholar named Fujisawa Nangaku, and his grandson is Fujisawa Kanko, a novelist from the early Showa period. My mother and Mr. Takeo Fujisawa's sister studied tea together under the same teacher, so we had a close relationship, and I met Mr. Takeo Fujisawa a few times when I was a child. At that time, he told me that "Jintan" was named by his grandfather.

By the way, it's interesting how eras are connected. My grandfather was born in the Meiji era, and my great-grandfather was born in the Edo period. I have faint memories of my early childhood with my great-grandfather, which means I have experienced the Edo period. I think that's pretty amazing. Haha.
