"Seven Samurai" contains the elements of Joseph Campbell's "Hero's Journey," which greatly influenced Lucas. Katsushirō, the young hero, undergoes trials and grows into an adult. He represents each one of us. In "Star Wars," this role is played by Luke. Kambei, the wise old man, imparts wisdom to the hero. He is similar to Yoda. Gorōbei, the father and mentor, teaches the hero skills. He is like Obi-Wan. Kyūzō, the shadow, can harness the power of darkness. He corresponds to Darth Vader.
