Description
I modified the piece of the two minkins. Now it represents 2 deers, and their design BELONG TO ME.These are two OC of my fantasy.
This drawing as been long to do. I love drawing background and creatures.
I'm not posting a lot of drawing in this moment because i'm really busy with some project of mine and others. I want to share everything that i do, but it isn't always possible. Even if i like sharing my drawing with you.
Thank you for all the support that you give me, i'm grateful

misbehaviorThese days a very strange thing happened and I do not know how to solve it.
You know Minkins? I saw them on tumblr and I had no idea that there is an "economy" behind them.
In practice this has happened...
I made a fan art of my two Minkin invented by me because I believed that everyone had their own Minkin (as an OC on a pony), but here it's different. I posted my design, and there was a lot of confusion!
The creator of these beasts (which are inspired by the Kirin) had asked me to remove my work. I initially did not understand the problem, but i told him that I was sorry and that we could reach an agreement in some way. But nothing of what I proposed was fine, she only wanted to delete the drawing and I still did not understand what the problem was.
Then a girl explained me the point: these are not OC, but OS (Original Species) and she told me the whole situation behind. At this point I said to this person: i will give you one of my Minkin and one I'll keep, so you can sell it

We understand it was never her intention but regardless of what someone's intention is, disrespect happens.
There are many other official Minkin designs she could have drawn that are available in the group gallery to brighten somebody else's day. It is listed EVERYWHERE that Minkin are not free to make and to not make your own, so there is really no excuse for this. This hurts us and makes us feel down as well, why do our feelings not matter in this?

Ah, I completely understand.
I'm sure she wasn't aware though
but thank you for letting her know.

She didn't... she just invented them, but she doesn't own them...it was just a way to represent random minkins!

I don't know if the species owners accept that though D:

Pretty sure unless they've copy-righted the design, they don't really hold any power over it.

Of course not, not legally. But closed species are just generally hesitant about accepting random designs.

What is considered "accepting" in this instance? It's not being submitted to a group or anything...

It was submitted to the min-kin group.

Not true. You cannot just own something as broad as a species. you definitely can never "copyright" a species. You'd have to Trademark the species, and that's a big legal process.
So no they're not automatically copyrighted upon creation. The specific artwork and characters are, but not the species as a whole. It's more of a respect thing to not make an OC of a Closed Species, but Stepandy didn't even know she wasn't allowed to. She's changed them to normal deer now though, so there shouldn't be any more issues :3
Btw not trying to start a fight or anything, just trying to inform :3
