H I S T O R Y

Baby: Mal was born out of an egg her fathers were given by the Egg of Eggs and hatched within the Jewel Hive. She spent these early years under the loving care of her two fathers. Many other SilkWing kids tended to tease her for her black spines though she doesn't a known HiveWing heritage, often calling her 'Beespine'. Both her fathers worked at the port of Jewel Hive.

Dragonet: At the young age of 4, her father Hairstreak died after an incoming SeaWing without proper identification shoved him into the water and dragging him under, where he drowned. The killer was quickly identified as Conch, an assassin, but it is unclear if Hairstreak was his target or not. He remains at large, wanted for several murders. With Hairstreak's death and the killer escaping, Batesia and Mal moved to Port Tatiana, far from the now bittersweet memories of Hairstreak. After this she shut her off from dragons she didn't know well and threw herself into learning self-defense as well as learning as much about other tribes as she could. Batesia now taking on the profession of Gardener for several of the hanging gardens and pavilions. Mal's schooling and defense lessons were given to a homeschooling teacher, a LeafWing named Hickory, to learn alongside his daughter, Sassafras. Over the course of two years, Batesia and Hickory grew feels towards each other and eventually became a couple. During this time, Hickory and Sassy also helped Mal start to open up to others again, but she still has problems opening up to SilkWings or SeaWings.Recently (as soon as Mal's wings came in), the little family visited Isle Mezzo so Batesia and Hickory could touch the Egg of Eggs and received one egg, Lichen. She became inspired by the family's visit with both the University, for the wealth of knowledge there, as well as the Orders, for their loyalty and skills. And officially started her dream to become a teacher. Not too long after the trip back from Isle Mezzo, an old Alliancer friend of Hickory's paid a visit to the family, where they first saw Mal's tapestries and recommended her application to the University.
