UPDATE: Quickly made some alterations to finish out this painting for my portfolio. Added more ships and rusty clouds coming up from the abyss.Here's another speed painting I've put around 2 hours into. I'm not sure if I want to keep on working on this as I feel the overall composition is just weak. I didn't really have a thumbnail sketch for this, so I'm blaming that for the lame layout. Maybe I'll finish it if I get some encouraging feedback and harsh critique from you guys.

No you're basically right about everything going on with this piece April, and sometime in the (very near) future I hope to have another go at something similar. I feel like the large scale urban scene is an environment I've never done successfully.

Hey, you know--I really like the concept. I think it's very imaginative, and the hoge-poge(?) of buildings (harking to different "eras") makes it interesting. What bothers me is that it is a little confusing. The style varies greatly between one building and the next (so it looks almost collaged in) and there is absolutely no sense of (unified) perspective. I'd really like to see another go at this in the future.

yeah i'm mostly wrestling with whether or not I should even bother finishing this. If yes, then I'd finish out the background.
And yes, it's crowded and in a bad way. The overall layout doesn't make sense. As I said, this piece wasn't terribly well thought out.

the upper left corner seems to be missing something and the rest is crowded, but mostly the corner is crying to have some kind of something there.
