I've been watching the 80's Ghostbusters cartoon, and Danny Phatnom. Safe to say how this came about. Sometimes I do this just to prove to myself I can do Danny Phantom style.Related content

Oh...my...God! My two favorite shows in the same drawing! I have long wondered what would happen if these two shows ever collided. Ironically, some of the DP characters (like the "guys in White" were modeled after the 80s show RGB. I have got to add this to my favorites.

The thing is, Danny "Phantom" Fenton [ [link] ] is a half-a and essentially PUTS the 'Busters out of business (just as they put the original Ghost-hunting team from Filmation out of commission once the movie franchise became a solid cult classic), since they BOTH trap ghosts, with the Fenton Thermos essentially being a Proton Pack of sorts & the Containment Unit leading to an otherworldly Ghost Zone, just like the Fenton Portal. Furthermore, Danny also has reference to another New England (i.e. the eastern sea borders of the US, namely paranormal hot spot New York, followed closely by Washington DC and New Jersey) ghost, that being Casper [ [link] ], since Danny's school is named after the friendly spook. Ironically, Ray Stanz even made a cameo IN Casper's first live-action film debut in 1995, losing to Casper's uncles--The Ghostly Trio--saying, "Who You Gonna Call? Someone else!" Look it up, if seeing IS believing.
Danny's show would also seem to channel Beetlejuice [ [link] ] at times, in particular, the otherworldy elements and Danny's relationship with Sam Manson, which is basically a tamer--and far more age-appropriate, and thereby, more acceptable--equivalent to Beetlejuice being paired off with Lydia Deetz in the cartoon spin-off from that fellow 80's film that equally rivaled both Ghostbusters [ [link] ] itself and time-traveling classic, Back to the Future [ [link] ].

Actually, Butch Hartman mentioned that he was inspired by a lot of the 80s shows and movies when he created DP. The fact is, by creating something that is a blend of all those elments, the "offspring" (for lack of a better word) is actually rendering homage to the original. As they say, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."
