Description i was asked to do an image for children folklore book by a publishing company in my country but the fella never contacted me back after I submitted this :S so i was like what the hell, i'll just submit it to deviant.

the story about Timun Mas goes like this (pardon my english, i'm not good at it )

once upon a time, there was a farmer husband and wife. They lived in a village near the forest and were not gifted with a child. Everyday they

prayed to God, to give them a child. One day a giant passed by and heard the prayer. The giant decided to give them a seed of pickle. The giant

said "plant this seed, and you'll get a daughter. But there is a condition. Once she is turned 17, you must give her back to me."

The farmers did what they were told. And for many months, a golden pickle grew. And it grew bigger and larger for each days. When it is time to

sow, the farmers carefully cut the pickle. How surprised they were, for there is a beautiful baby girl inside the pickle. And they named her "Timun Mas".

Year by year passed by and Timun Mas grew to become beautiful and more beautiful, the farmers were very proud of her. But they were also

frightened because on her 17 birthday, the giant came to ask her back. The farmers tried to calm down, and told the giant to wait for a moment

while he and his wife planned an escape for Timun Mas. They gave her a small magic bag and told her to run away as fast as she could into the

forest. When the giant knew about the escape, He was very angry. He then destroyed the farmers house and ran chasing for Timun Mas.

Timun mas grabbed a handful of salt and she threw it on the ground. Suddenly the ground changed to a sea, and the giant had to swim accross.

She ran again but the giant managed to get close. this time she grabbed a handful of chilli and she trew to the giant. It grew to become sharp

bushes and trapped the giant inside. But the giant was so strong that he got out of it and continued chasing Timun Mas. Again the giant almost

caught her, so she grabbed the third item. It was pickle seeds, and so she threw it again on to the ground. And the seeds grew to become a yard

full of big pickles. Looking at those pickles, the giant felt hungry and eat all the pickles. For eaten to many pickle, the giant fell asleep and Timun

Mas continue to run away as fast as she could until she got tired. The worst thing is the giant woke up from his sleep and again he almost caught

Timun Mas. Frightened, she threw her last weapon a handful of "terasi" (Indonesian food ingredient made of shrimp) and the ground turned into

a large lake of mud. Panicked the giant tried averything he could to escape from the mud but the bottom was so deep that he finally drowned.

Timun Mas felt so relieved that she is now save. Then she returned to her parents aand live happily ever after.

Amazing vector and nice story. Did you come up with the story or is a local folk tale?

cool. I live in the US so we don't have any cool folktales. The best one I know of is the Johnny Appleseed one. Another one I know of is Paul Bunion but that one bugs me cus it has a giant blue ox in it.

Haha, I love this one. The giant was very well done, not too cartoony but not too scary, a good balance. good job.
