Description

This year is the 40th anniversary of the Commodore 64's launch, so I figured I had to do something to mark the occasion. I was going to draw an original picture of Fuchsia, but I figured I'd do a proof-of-concept test first by converting an existing one to pixel art. There are some weird color artifacts in places I wasn't expecting, and I think it's because Koala Paint defaults to white being the shared background color and has no way to change it—or if it does, I don't know what it is. I might have to look into alternative drawing tools for the next one.

UPDATE 11/29/2022: I was inspired to give this a second go, this time starting by filling the entire screen with black and gradually filling in the rest, and apparently that was the key! I also decided to recreate (as best I could) the gradient background.
I didn't realize until I started adding the signature that this ended up being another anniversary—the picture I'm recreating was originally drawn in 2012.
