Temperament: A perky individual with a pep in their step and a sly look on their face. They have a similar energy and vibe to a fox looking for trouble. Tephra seeks entertainment in the embarrassment of others, with a very “sticks and stones” attitude. They never physically attack anyone, nor do they pick on others with name calling and such. They are disruptive in classes and don’t seem to take anything seriously.
Personality: Tephra has an overactive penchant for losing interest in serious matters, they like life to be fun and entertaining, and seek it through their peers. They see no harm in playing pranks and tend towards impersonating other dragons their age to cause drama, or spook someone. They love their reputation, as the last thing they’d ever want to be is boring.

  Tephra has pseudo-orbs one under each ear, they do not produce mana.
  They have a septum ring so big they need to flick it up to rest on top of their snout to eat food. (It’s not shown in the maw ref, but they are always wearing it.)
The lava on their tail doesn't drip onto the floor but behaves like real lava when it interacts with anything. Beware! (If water comes into contact with it it will temporarily solidify, which causes Tephra pain and discomfort)

Life before the Academy: Tephra was found just outside the Academy encased in a slab of tephra to keep their egg warm. There was no note or personal effects included that could identify them or who left them there.
Life at the Academy: They have succeeded in making an impact on their peers, with a reputation for tricking fellow juvies with shapeshifting, unfortunately for them, Tephra is great at lying, so it’s usually too late before people realize it was them.
They are often tasked with unsavory chores like helping Neophytes with less glamorous jobs like cleaning statues and structures or raking leaves out of the gardens as punishment for their schemes.
It seems to have been either luck in choosing targets or a high tolerance threshold among this generation of juvies that have saved them from angry retaliation to humble them. But the day is still young…

Relationship with Keeper:
  Charredan- Tephra has a lot of fondness for Charredan, he both has the capacity to be kind and understanding, and fiery in a reactive way that amuses them. They seldom feel genuinely hurt by or frightened of their Keeper. Which has made for a stable sense of self, if also a fearless tendency towards aggravating others. They wouldn’t want any other Keeper.

Noteworthy Relationships:
  Arath- Tephra’s favourite prank buddy. The two have been terrorising each other since they were young with prank wars. Tephra would never admit, but with an abundance of less troublemakers it’s nice not to be the only one shaking things up, and they look forward to finding out what new schemes Arath is up to. One of their favourite pranks are pranks within pranks where they will shapeshift into him and blame things on him when they get caught.
  Amalia- They were often under the unofficial care of Amalia when they were a whelp. Tephra liked to nip a lot with their blunt teeth and bound around the charcoal dragon with endless energy. They will be sassy to Amalia nowadays, but she’s such a gentle soul that she’s honestly no fun to prank. Tephra overall likes her.

Description: As a self-defense measure, Tephra can make the furry parts of their body burst into incredibly hot flames. It’s not easy for them to do energy wise, so they use this if they need to get someone grappling them to let them go and get distance.
