Target: Hog the Tenrec

What’s up, kid? Lookin’ for more? Y’know, we don’t just have corruptions here. In fact, we’ve got a lot more. Bootlegs, unused junk, etc. There’s a lot that we’ve got in store.

Anyway, I think the first recorded instance of this illegal modification was by Jack Gore, otherwise known as RblxTrex. The original thread that first gave info about these games also included Crocoboyo, who helped put together the thread.

The “Hog the Tenrec” series was a series of illegal modifications to SEGA’s “Sonic the Hedgehog” games by a company known as Giga. As inventors of the “Switch N’ Play” technology, pieces of hardware that work similarly to the Lock On technology from the infamous “Sonic & Knuckles” title, the company created add-ons to create all new experiences of the games you love.

The games were relatively simple, reusing the original game’s code while also adding a bit of its own twist to things. Notably, controls for the main character were untouched due to how difficult it would be to recode everything with it.

Anyway, the people who made the add on must’ve done something wrong, because whenever anyone tries to play it, the console crashes or something. I wonder what sort of broken code could be causing it.

Hog is... well... an anthropomorphic blue tenrec with a peach underbelly and snout. He has a few tufts of fur on his cheeks. He wears gray striped shoes and also seems to have eyeliner. Notably, he looks pretty much identical to Sonic if you drew him from memory and also took a few creative liberties.

Hog is basically Sonic, being a kindhearted, yet somewhat sly individual who’s always going to put his life on the line for his friends. He’s also got a bit of an ego streak, but he tries not to let it get to his head.

Due to the reuse of code, Hog is pretty similar to Sonic when it comes to abilities. One could say that they’re evenly matched. Whether or not any power ups are different in Hog’s games is currently unknown, I’m still looking into it.

Also, he can teleport? Maybe it’s a buggy version of the Light Speed Dash or something.

Hog is quite gullible, and will probably believe you if told a convincing enough lie.

Hog does, in fact, have a mouth. He just doesn’t show it if it isn’t needed.

Those tufts on his face were influenced by another anomaly known as “Lord X”. More information on him is coming soon, though I don’t think he had any influence on Giga as a whole.

I think Giga tried to make a comeback by putting Hog in a mod for Friday Night Funkin’. Either that, or someone just really liked the guy. Anyway, something must’ve worked, because so little was discovered beforehand, you could say it was like he was made for the game.

Anyway, I might just go ahead and document his friends and world some other time, but for now, I think that our meeting for today has come to an end.
