Monitamon then would digivolvs to Chamelemon, Chamelemon was chosen as a refernce to Gus's palisman. Chamelemon digivolvs to Wismon, Wisemon is more of a reference to Gus's his skills magic . Wisemon digivolvs to Ancient Wisemon, Ancient Wisemon chosen do to it association to and its ability to create illusion.
