Lee arrived back at the manner early the next morning, hoping to start the day’s early with Ted.  Despite this intention, he arrived to find the house ablaze with chaos and confusion.  No one seemed to know where Ted was as he had vanished in the night.  When at last the members of the house had affirmatively concluded that Ted was neither in the house nor in the surrounding area, Lee ordered everyone into the dining room to discuss a plan of action.

“Look.  All I want to know is what was the last thing he told you all.  This is important.”  Lee said, placing a paw up to stop the tumult of answers and declarations of innocence.

“Vigil, is there anything you can add to this?”  Dante asked.

“I have no record or recollection of Ted’s whereabouts after midnight.”  Vigil stated.

“Did Ted tell you to stop tracking him?”  Lee asked.

“Any subsequent data on that matter has been deleted, per Ted’s request.

“So he did tell you to stop tracking him.”  Dante concluded.

“Dante, you were showing Ted something the other night, what was it?”  Verone asked.

“It was an intercepted Overseer call that I was showing Ted.  I gave him a copy of-” Dante explained.

“You WHAT?!”  Verone barked in disbelief.

“Dante, that stuff is need-to-know material for a reason.”  Lee said, placing a paw in front of Verone to stop any physical advances being made on the Typhlosion.

“Vigil, did Ted give anything to you, or say anything to you last night?”  Bryce asked.

“Ted presented me with a data file that he asked to be transferred to a personal estate that was given to him by his sponsor that is located in Unova’s Undella Town.  It was communicated over a secure connection.  I have no record of the file’s current state after that action.”  Vigil explained.

“I know that place.”  Lucario stated.

“Then you’re coming with me there.”  Lee said resolutely.

“Now hold on a minute-“ Verone and Bryce started.

“Verone, I want you coordinating efforts here with the folks back home.  If Lucario and I need any help, we’ll call you and Bryce in.”  Lee stated.

       “What about me?”  Bryce asked.

“You’re in charge of the house until Lucario and I get back with Ted.”  Lee said.

Lucario rose from the table and followed Lee outside.  Lee was holding a small gem in his paw that he now brandished into full view.

“What is that?”  Lucario asked, studying the gem for a moment.

“Its our way to get to Ted.” Lee responded before holding the gem in an outstretched paw.  “Lucario, I want you to picture the this place in Undella town that we need to get to in your mind.  When you have the image in your mind set, place your paw on top of the gem.”

Lucario closed his eyes a moment before placing his paw on the gem in Lee’s hand.  A bright yellow glow consumed both of their bodies momentarily before both Lee and Lucario vanished into thin air from in front of the manor.

Lee and Lucario were trapped in a dizzying column of light as they both felt their bodies being hurled this way and that, held together as if glued at the paw by the gem.  Lucario suddenly felt solid ground underneath himself as the column of light he was trapped in vanished like a bubble on a needle.  Looking around, Lee and Lucario were on a sandy beach with a handful of luxurious houses overlooking the ocean to their south.

“Which way to the house?”  Lee asked.

Lucario looked about a second, trying to gain his bearings with the houses.

“Ted’s house is due east from here.”  Lucario said, motioning for Lee to follow him after getting himself acquainted.

The march along the beach for the two Pokémon was relaxing enough as the sun gently swept across them, warming their fur comfortably.  The salty sea air gave off a relaxing feeling and there was no denying that relaxation of some sort would be in order once hostilities had been assuaged.

The general feel of the town that Lee and Lucario were enjoying as they walked along was soon spoiled when Lucario saw a large crowd gathered in front of a house that, while it was less spectacular in design than the other houses, was still very well made.

Lucario approached the house with Lee only to be stopped by a pair of police officers that were standing guard at the house.  The whole house was roped off with yellow tape and was being treated like a crime.

“Excuse me, what happened here?”  Lucario asked.

“Sorry, no one is allowed in.”  The police officer said, obviously not understanding Lucario.

“Sergeant, let those two Pokémon through.”  A voice came from a balcony on Ted’s house.

Lucario and Lee looked up to see a man with short, but well kept brown hair.  He was dressed in a black leather jacket and was walking around the house as if he was in charge.

“But sir, they’re not-“ One of the officers protested.

“Let them through.”  The man reiterated.

Lucario and Lee stepped past the barriers and began walking toward a door that was under the balcony, much to the dismay of the police officers that were there.

On the first floor, the large window that faced the street on the opposite side of the house had a large bullet hole in it.  Detectives were busily dusting the house for fingerprints and other evidence that would be collected at a crime scene.  The detective that had waved Lee and Lucario inside appeared on a stairway that was in the same room as the broken window.  With a motion of his hand, the detectives were all dismissed to take whatever collected evidence they had out of the house, leaving himself alone with Lee and Lucario.

“I knew if Ted was in the area, you and your friends wouldn’t be far behind.”  The man said.

“You have me at a disadvantage.”  Lucario said, crossing his paws.

“Jeremy Betz.  Super-law Reprisal & Enforcement.”  The man said.

“A Seraph?”  Lucario said, his eyes widening in surprise.

Lee was also equally concerned as Seraphs were a very select breed of law enforcement that was not required to adhere to many restrictions and regulations that standard law enforcement had to obey.  There were above the law in many ways, and experience had taught him time and time again that power without accountability was not a good combination.

“Indeed.  Someone tried to kill Ted.  International police owes him a few favors so when word got out someone had made a move on him, I came by to check in.”  Jeremy said.

“Hmm, okay.”  Lucario said after a brief pause.

“Do you know if Ted has made any enemies lately?”  Jeremy asked when looking around the house a moment.

“Ever heard of the Overseer?”  Lucario asked.

“Only in name.  He is a dangerous enemy to have from what I’ve heard.  And if he is going to this length to try and kill him, finding Ted is of top importance.”  Jeremy said.

“Do you know where he has gone?”  Lucario said, walking over to examine the bullet hole.

“That’s what I came here to find out.  You know him best though.” Jeremy responded.

“What can you tell us about this place that doesn’t meet the eye?”  Lee asked, finally speaking up.

“From what we can tell, the shooter was using an illegally acquired military grade anti-vehicle rifle.  Ted had something over himself to block the shot, like a barrier.”  Jeremy started.

“He is aura sensitive.”  Lucario responded, walking over to the fireplace to examine a few digital picture frames that were showing old memories.

“That would explain how the shot was deflected.  Sounds to me like he was a little paranoid, but it saved his life.  After the shot was fired, he stayed for an additional four minutes to back something up on his computer.  Whatever he was doing must have been really important.”  Jeremy stated.

It was at this time that Lucario placed his paw on the frame of a picture that had Mara and Ted nestled together on the beach outside.  The digital picture immediately changed to a picture of an old relic that might be found in the undersea temple to the east of the town.

“I’ve found something.”  Lucario called out.

“What is it?” Jeremy asked, stepping down the stairs and coming over with Lee to the picture.

“The picture changed to one of the temple ruins, but I’ve never seen one like what the picture shows.”  Lucario said.

“I’ve noticed a few objects around here that match that description of some of the old temple relics.”  Lee said.

“It might be a clue to whatever it was that Ted was leaving behind.” Jeremy suggested.

The three proceeded to split up, looking at various sculptures and urns that were set on display around the house.  After roughly 10 minutes of searching, Lucario let his paw run on a glass case that had a Servine sculpture that was made completely from gold.  A small drawer located at the base of the display case opened automatically, revealing a flash drive that had been placed inside.

“Found something.”  Lucario said, taking the flash drive out.

       “What is it?”  Jeremy asked.

“It’s a flash drive, and one that should give us the answer that we need.” Lucario said, walking over to where Jeremy was with the flash drive in his paw.

Jeremy took the flash drive from Lucario and walked over to a computer that was on a desk that was positioned beside a window that looked out over the ocean.  Connecting the flash drive to the computer, the computer immediately opened a single audio file that was on the computer.

“What do you have for me Anderson?” Ted’s voice asked.

“You were right when you contacted me last night.  You are on to something big.  I can give you the exact coordinates of everyone involved with this.  But are you sure you’re looking to get into this kind of trouble again?”  the man responded on the other end of the call.

“Don’t say another word doctor.  I’ll meet you at the Devon Corporation branch office in Castelia in 2 hou-“ Ted started.

The sound of a gun shot and glass shattering filled the recording with a chaotic tumult before cutting out.

“Ted is in over his head.  I can get to two of you to the Castalia office within the hour.  I have a helicopter waiting outside.”  Jeremy offered.

“That will work fine.”  Lucario said, noticing that Lee was going to protest after he had spoken.

Jeremy pulled out his a radio and began issue a series of cryptic commands before leading Lucario and Lee to a helicopter that was spinning itself up for them.
