Use in combination with: How to Remove Ink from paper ? by straingedays[ USE WITH CARE - THIS METHOD IS ABRASIVE AND MAY CAUSE IRRIVERSIBLE DAMAGE ]
TOOLS:
** Assorted Ink -- Some of the pens used were a little dry, but most are working as new.
** The electric erasure is a Ringsun (the cheapest on eBay), any brand should do the trick.
** Grinding wheel is from a Dremel Tool ; Silicone Carbide 3/4'' X 1/8'' Grit 180 grind wheel.
** A few wraps of cloth-tape will make the drill bit large enough to fit snug into the erasure.
** Dremel diamond cutter cylindrical tool-bits ; These are much smaller and able to work at a much finer degree than the sometimes indiscreet 1/8 inch wide grind wheel. ,, ,, ,, The diamond tool worked almost as good, but one slip and the diamond bit ground right through the paper.
The pens that failed, are gel type ink pens, and felt-tip type markers. --- These soak through the paper (or blot). --- This method removes part, or all of the layer of paper the ink is laid onto. --- If the ink has gone right through to the other side, , , you'll erase right on through the paper !!
Most other ink brands (surprisingly) worked pretty well for a first test.
Top Test Tip :--- If you place the fingerprint side tip of one finger under what needs to be removed, it will stop a lot of the vibration. --- And most importantly you can feel heat from the friction of the spinning wheel. --- If it feels as if its getting warm, ease off the pressure. --- Using no pressure for longer works better and the lighter you go the better the results will be.
It's far from a perfect fix, fine paper can to easily become roughed & scuffled (looks nasty in high resolution).
Fine grade wet & dry paper without the water may be a more gentler way ?? I'll test that next.
