Ayano Kuga (left) and Akira Kuga (right) - both brothers, and both blinded by a fire (sorry about the size, BG and mistakes xx)

Ah, lesse ... Ayano can see some light and dark, but nothing else, and Akira's completely blind, and his sense of smell has been reduced by excessive smoke inhallation(sp).

The fire was when Akira was 10, Ayano was 19 - five years ago. Ayano rushed back inside the house when he realized his brother hadn't been beside him. The burn marks on his fingertips are from when he had to push burning rubble out of the way to get to his brother's room, and the mark on the back of each hand is from one of the support beams (that hit the back of his head first - causing his loss of sight)
Akira's exsessive burn marks can't really be explained from causes, save for his loss of sight completely from when a pot heated too much and exploded next to him - mutilating both eyes. He'd fallen onto one arm (right) and the left one took all the real damage and was later amputated. Ayano came in after the explosion and as he went to pick Akira up, the beam came down. It knocked him out, but he shielded his younger brother with his own body (his back is heavilly burned, but you can't see).
Akira wears the bandage on one arm, long socks and the bandages over his eyes to keep anyone from seeing the burn marks (also on his body, but his /mother's/ shirt covers them. ((the father's shirts wouldn't fit him)) )

Now, the 'leash' that Akira holds is looped over Ayano's left forearm to use as a lead. He can't see or really smell, so really he's helpless and scared of alot of things. Ayano counts on smell and sounds, and of course, he's overprotective of his baby brother.

Edit: They have 'animals' too, Akira's a gerbil, Ayano's a Fossa... o.o ah ... look the latter up.
