Description Well I pussied out, I was going to foreshorten the lance coming toward the viewer, but the image still works.

This would be a 1st World War german lancer.
They were hardly used on the western front due to the defensive aspects of trench warfare, but they were used some on the Eastern front but again no much. Cavalry were the pride of European generals in the lead up to the war and many of them had to learn the hard way that cavalry were obsolete in modern war.
There were some crazy charges against trenches and field guns that ended pretty disastrously.

PS. In the top right on the lance you should see some little lumps, these are eyelets to attach a penant(flag). These eyelets used to get caught in the bodies of the stabbed, this meant lances were only good for the initial kill.
There were a lot of downsides.
