Alex: Yes? [Alex gave him a smile of encouragement, sensing there was something on his mind.]
Sebastian: Do you ever feel like we missed out on something important by not getting handfasted and having a family of our own? I mean, we could have little ones running around by now?
Alex: [Grinning] Are you asking me to be handfasted to you?
Sebastian: I'm serious, Alex.
Alex: I guess I sometimes wonder what it would be like, but I don't feel like we missed out. We still feel the love of family every day. We are just . . . different.
Alex: Anyway, we are still young by witch standards. One or both of us could still start a family.
Sebastian: I don't think that's ever going to happen. Not for me, anyway.
Alex: Well, if I ever start a family, you will come live with us, and nothing between us will ever change. Understand? In the meantime, we have rich lives, we have each other, and I'm thankful every day.
