Description

This was a weird one. I am currently attending another art course (never seem to run out of them), where one of the reference images was the sculpture "The First Funeral" by Louis Ernest Barrias (I'll post it in the comments, so you can compare my feeble attempt to that of a master).

I decided to continue my quest to draw Pokemon trainers, but turn the image into a "master study" of sorts, by using the poses in the sculpture as reference for my image.

Here then is Brock, Nessa and Cynthia. What happened to Nessa? I don't know, but I guess she fell victim to my art experiment. I guess we can pretend she is sleeping, despite the original's title...

The purpose of this study was to face the challenge of drawing characters interacting with each other physically. I felt that the combination of a carrying pose and a holding/hug pose was a nice way to up the difficulty.
