This is a painting I did in 1989. White paint on black canvas.It's 2.8m *1.8m. I hope you enjoy it.

OMG -- I am so ashamed it took me this long to have a proper nose around your gallery...although this wonderful image has been staring me in the face since you started to rock my world. And such a treasure -- of one of my idols. My God how I love Marlene Dietich -- Blue Angel (hence my ID *grins* - even named my old design business in NYC after her...).
You have so much talent and ability as a fine artist. I went to art school and I assure you I could never achieve the undeniable beauty and technical mastery that you show in this high work of art. The contrast and detailing is amazing. Stunning duotone. I really do look forward to more from you! No more hiding that light under a bushel... *HUGGLES*

Was a little nervous, I think it's because with my interior and furniture design business, it's work so I'm always seeeking feedback and have a fantastic team and we work as a team. (Softest boss in the world). These pieces are mine and are very personal. I'm a man of great complexity apparently. That's what my much better half tells me anyway.

Not too bad. Judy has been a bit sick, so I haven't wanted to stress her until she feels better, then I'll really stress her. Just kidding. I walked them through the colour palette she's developed and the outline for her series. They're very excited and I must admit so am I. I've got this feeling that she will do something special with this and it will blow all of us away.

Well done, it certainly is her. It's actually a famous photograph of her. I wanted the painting to replicate the photo so I built the frame to resemble a border. It kinda loses something here on dA. I guess i've been used to looking at her for the last 15 years on a much larger scale.

the white paint on the black canvas has a really interesting effect, its like a photograph, but with a bit of a caracature quality to it. this is very well done, you definately have a talent in painting. i love the womans facila expression, and how shes in the dark just holding a ciggie and thinking. this is just so great

Thank you so much. This is from an old and famous photograph of an actress M.Deitreich, and I specifically wanted to capture that quality. The frame I made and painted white to represent the border of a photograph. It took about 6 weeks to do, and is in my hall way. Bloody enormous thing but I love her as she was my first real attempt.
