There is an Apache legend that tells of a beautiful woman named Bright Rain and her warrior husband Sky Dancer...he is lost in battle and because he was a virtuous soul, the gods allowed him to return to her in the form of a hummingbird, who would go to her as she collected berries and such in the fields and whisper secrets in her ear.Β All this photo lacks is the hummingbird!

I was thinking that since you are comfortable on both sides of a camera you might consider setting up the shot and posing for an update of the legend.Β Have you ever seen the ceremony when a veteran is put to rest?Β The honor guard folds the American flag that draped the coffin into I triangle and this is presented to the widow.Β Often, the flag is later put in a triangular wooden box for display by the veteran's family.Β I was thinking you could do the pose as Bright Rain, the widow: dress normally in, say, jeans and a t-shirt, like it was months or years after the funeral ceremony.Β Maybe wear a t-shirt that has a dreamcatcher or another tribal symbol printed on it.Β Anyway, do the pose from the front so the viewer can see that you are looking at the folded flag....and later, photoshop Sky Dancer, as a hummingbird in after you get the shot the way you want it.Β Β
Sorry to go on like this.Β At one time I was thinking of doing a painting based on the legend, but I think it would be better if you, or someone like you, did it.Β Anyway, Take Care!
