(and we have our main character! Good ole' Jo lol) This is actually the first piece I did for this series, so the style is a lil messier different, lol.

Hailing from America, Jo Mori, also known by several pseudonyms but most famously, The Sunset, is the captain of the 10th division and head of survival training and preparation, rescue and augmentative missions, and organizing and overseeing long-term deployments into hostile territory. She is also a Visored, and used to lead a group of exiles before they were welcomed back to the Gotei during the Big Bang. During the Big Bang, she is KIA but is mysteriously resurrected thanks to the fact that her zanpakuto actually holds a god in the service of Death herself.

Jo is an easygoing but strong-willed and confident person. Her reputation around the Gotei has fluctuated wildly due to rumors vs people actually meeting her. The rumors paint her as mysterious, death-defying, something 'other' that is to be feared (on top of being a former criminal). Upon meeting her, people see a strong but kind personality, open and forgiving to a fault. She's someone who leads by example, puts trust in her subordinates and works them hard but fairly, always striving to improve herself and her squad. Jo initially denied the captain's position offered to her because she wanted to figure out what had happened to her and what was going on with her zanpakuto (on top of gaining some trust back from the rest of the Gotei). Captain-Commander Hattori, however, doesn't take no for an answer and convinces Jo to re-found the 10th, with a new specialization. Despite the rumors, she had plenty of volunteers curious about her and the new mission, and soon after many more joined after hearing stories about the camaraderie and care emphasized in Jo's division.

Her Zanpakuto is called Kelel'ono (The Whitegold) and is classified as a fire type. However, its abilities lay in the generation and manipulation of hot plasma, specifically produced by a reiatsu-based reaction similar to star fusion- powers described to burn so brightly they seem to snuff out all the light surrounding. (wow that's a mouthful).In its released state, the appearance of the blades simply change, from katana to straighter, more streamlined 'tactical blades'. Jo's zanpakuto is also an Aspect, a god, who merged herself with Jo to keep her alive after she was fatally wounded by the former Captain-Commander Merek Faucon I. This merge has fundamentally changed the way Jo can use her 'zan- after some training, it becomes much more instinctual and allows her the use of her own spiritual pressure and that of her zanpakuto, giving her abilities a dual-toned look- with the added bonus of gaining a near-immunity to heat and fire directed at her.

Jo is far from the first to have an Aspect zanpakuto and forge a close relationship and understanding of what it is (Hattori Fuu being another famous wielder), but the consequences of physically and spiritually merging with what seems like a god are unveiled the more she discovers about her new abilities... and responsibilities.
