Edit 2!! I have chosen the winner!!! And the winner iiiiiiissss.... CherushiMetsumari and her name "Sweet Dream Icon"!!!!
Choosing a name was SO DIFFICULT. I took me days, as you can probably tell!! I had it narrowed down to around five when I decided "Sweet Dream Icon" sounded the best <3Β I wanted to avoid picking a friend's suggestion, but in the end it was the one I liked the most <3

OMG PURPLE + BLUE IS AMAZING IN PIXELS. so if your chara has blue eyes, shade with purple. if he/she has green eyes, shade with blue and yellow. yellow works well with orange, red, and pink! but you can also sneak purple in there for some real contrast (in the eyes haha)

well i just learned how to choose a light source. (i usually just imagine a little sun in the upper left corner of the canvas or the upper right, depending on which way the chara is facing) clothes and skin are easy, but hair is a bit trick. i just use a very dark color to outline the hair. then i use a veyr, very light color for the base color. then i use a color kind of in the middle for hair lines, then a lighter color than that to shade, but darker than the base color...eh its not too easy to explain in words? OTL
for eyelids and eyelashes i use shades of brown and pink and anti-aliaize...i should just make a tutorial lol
lashes are just horizontal lines extending from the top of the eyelid
