Woah, we haven't seen these beasties in a while! This has actually been laying around for quite a bit. I had the pup painted up at least a year ago, but never finished the male in the back. I've decided to put them into my headworld, but I'm still considering making the Northernbreeds available eventually since they aren't directly involved in any of my main headworld stories so far.The Northernbreeds really needed some updates! The pup and the full grown male are both characters of mine, but they also make for good references. I haven't found names for them yet, but the large one is the pup's father. The pup takes quite a bit after the mother instead, but retains the father's blue eyes.
Coats as dark as his are very rare, and blue eyes are pretty uncommon among Northernbreeds as well. On the other hand lighter coats are more common.
Pups are also a rare sight. Females along with having a low fertility rate, are prone to miscarriage do to the harsh environment and their strenuous lifestyles. When they do, they generally only have one to two pups, but litters of three or more are rare. This pup is about 4 months old, and they generally take up to 2 years to reach their full size.

Northernbreeds and Hippodara have quite a few different traits,
so they'd probably take notice almost right away.

Nuuuh, don't eat the little one D: admittedly, I can see it happening too. Young hippodari are probably a lot like actual kittens, just very hyperactive (and kind of hyperaggressive). Hippodari parents would probably also eat that poor fluffy baby in your pic D: SO SAD.

Yeah, Northernbreed pups aren't aggressive like adults, but they are curious things,
and do like to wander. Parents need to be overprotective to avoid their little ones
being snatched up by some predator o:

Well, I already have a sketch in the works, so there will be more! and the pups are probably a lot like foals. A lot of awkward staggering around because the legs are still too long XD
I think hippodari cubs are relatively shy if they meet other species, so they stay close to their parents (and annoy the hell outta dad because he stays with the cub while momma is on the hunt for food). But hippodari are very protective of their cubs too since they only have one at a time and the little buggers are just too clumsy to defend themselves e_e the only exception would be melanistic/brightly coloured cubs, those are abandoned immediately because they have absolutely no camouflage in their natural habitats (steppes and deserts).
