Honestly, I could not help but thought about the song at the end of season 5.
My tribute to the 11/11/11 ... we will have to wait an awful lot of time for such a coincidence

You know, I definately think that "Every me and every you" was written with Doctor Who in mind. The attitude of the narrator, calling himself selfish, unkind and using people's affection to fashion them into his tools or pawns reminds of the late Seventh Doctor of the Virgin New Adventures [or the recent Eleventh, who basically is an amalgamation of the 2nd and 6th (for their general fashion sense, Two's love for hats and specifically six's denial that he dresses oddly), 7th (for his sheming and abusing people) and 4th (for his quirkiness and ADHD disorder)], and that there is a box he choses to use, the mentioning of something borrowed and blue somewhere in space and time, those can't be coincidences. And of course the title itself might refer to the process of regeneration. It's even mentioned that the narrator's body is broken.

Whoa, what an interpretation ! I never thought of all these little details, listening to the song ... Honestly, as I never hear Molko talking about Doctor Who, nor read that this song refers to DW, I can hardly legitimate a relation of this song with the show. Anyway, songs are made to make sense to every one, travel a lot, and this interpretation is quite nice !
Plus "Something borrowed, something blue" in the song simply refers to the american tradition that the future bride during her wedding day must wear : " something old and something new, something borrowed and something blue". Moffat used this tradition because - of course - every whovian must have the tardis in mind, with such a list.
