Altair feared what may happen when the inherent contradiction of there Creed, that preached finding ones own morality yet deferred to a Mentor to lead.
So when the Mentor makes a mistake, like Achilles did the other Assassin's followed out of loyalty, which is a noble trait yet it blinded them to the facts that Shay witnessed. The word Tragedy seems the most apt to describe what happened in Rogue.
