Description Winter.

It was the season of death.

But was it, really? She didn't think so. Sure, it was cold. And yes, there wasn't as much food. But everybody else missed the point.

Every year, the earth was reborn. It was stripped of all life that was unable to survive the biting cold. All life that couldn't live long enough to see one more awe-inspiring winter. That in itself was the signal- it was time that this being stopped struggling and found peace. The end of one life, the start of another.

Once the glittering snow melted, new ferns would unfurl from the blackened growth. And then flowers would follow, and the saplings would appear. The old ones' dead leaves fed the ground and gave it minerals. It was this important- without that single death there would be no new flowers to fill its place. No new season to signal the beginning of a new year. Death was the cycle of life, there was no escaping it. Those that feared it saw it wrongly. They clung to the life that they once knew- but it is full of struggling, and eventually, it will wear out your bones and cut off the blood flow. Everybody has their time, weather it was sooner or later. And everybody gave back, and helped enrich the beautiful earth.

Tasha knew that she, too, would once have her time. Perhaps it would in fact be in that season of winter, which killed the weak with its cold. Perhaps it would be quietly and peacefully. But she didn't dwell on this. It was simply knowledge that she had- a piece of info that could be traded back and forth.

For now, she would just enjoy the season that so many feared.  She would leap among the snow and bark in laughter as white powder ringed her muzzle. She would chase the flakes of ivory and fall into the welcoming blanket of white.

She could see the true purpose of this glittering, snowy season.

It was a fresh start.

A second chance.

A place of peace.
