You type :icon(whateverhere) : Where you put whatever there, and no spaces. ^^ Like the one I just did went like this: :iconiloveitmorplz : (No space)

You can hit the "Preview" button before sending to see if it shows. Sometimes it's not a valid account (i.e. doesn't exists yet) so nothing shows but the text.
