Description This is our pet bird. He is a four-year-old Quaker Parrot, but we got him about three months ago. He's a lot of fun. The reason I say he is that we believe it is of the male gender, for it seems very predominant. He actually enjoys taking baths, or just splashing around it water. This is a picture of him playing around in our sink. You can tell how adorable he is by the way he ruffles up his feathers. ^^
-Taken with my brand-new camera-

Kind of Christmassy. ;D

Enjoy.

(Please view this photo full-sized, for in a shruken version, the detail and sharpness of the picture is dulled. -_-)

GET WET!
Bathing is an important part of our birds' general grooming process. It allows birds to keep their plumage in good condition, by softening dirt on the feathers and skin and encouraging preening. Baths also help keep the dander down in the environment. One has to remember that in the confinement of our homes, pollutants will collect in much greater density than in the wild. Especially in small, poorly ventilated spaces pollutants - such as dander, dried droppings and skin/feather mites - can be a major issue.

Bathing is especially important during molting, when birds sometimes feel itchy and uncomfortable as the new pin feathers break through the skin. Keeping their skin and feathers clean & hydrated is helpful to them and their plumage. Bathing is also important for breeding birds, as it helps them regulate the humidity level in the nesting box, which is important
