Ancient Trade in Ethiopia, East Africa. I may be an anthropology major, but archaeology isn't my favorite subject.

understandable, sounds like a vast subject so you can't like everything. My sister was the same with her history of art degree.
You must be studying so much to write about a subject like that x__x I couldn't even imagine

I just have to compose the bibliography for now, and I can add and remove sources throughout the semester whether they are relevant to my final essay, worth 4000 words, but I'm trying to be thorough so I don't have to spend more time later this semester finding more articles.

Both looking forward to it, and dreading it. ^_^" I'm gonna try to get my Master's degree in Creative Writing (or Script Writing), but if I don't get accepted, it'll be another few months before I can apply again. Not sure what I'd do in those in-between months... I'd hate to move back into my parent's place.

yeah that wouldn't be ideal would it...sadly these days many graduates are forced to as they find work. At least it's like that in England right now
A masters in creative writing sounds awesome! (so does script writing) I could totally see you doing well in both to be honest, hey random/ kind of relatvent questions but who are you favorite authors? I'm looking for a new book to read haha

You probably know of them, but Terry Pratchet and Neil Gaiman, both of who I discovered in high school. Not that I've had much chance to explore into other authors in the last few years, what with classes keeping me so pinned down. XD

Here's hoping I can get into comic writing, or script writing for animation. I'd love to work in either fields.

superlucky13 In reply to The-Bloody-Bishop [2014-10-04 19:50:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I do know of them xD I've read a lot of Neil gaiman novels though apart from Good omens I've never looked into Terry Pratchet, maybe I should try (especially since he's books are always being sold in charity shops for like 50p)

and thats understandable, during my final year of uni I think I managed to read maybe one book? Work just takes up so much time :/ hopefully you will get a chance in the future. I imagine reading is a big part of developing your writing.

mmhmm that would be an amazing job I bet

The-Bloody-Bishop In reply to superlucky13 [2014-10-04 19:57:34 +0000 UTC]

Terry Pratchett isn't as well known in the States, so the main places to read his books are in libraries, or book stores. Still haven't been able to read every book in the series, but the books I have read, I've read multiple times.

It is, but it's also good to learn practice your craft and see what you write without much input from other novelists. For the last few years, I've found myself reading more comics than novels, so I think that plays a part in my interest as well.Β

So long as I'm not living in my parent's basement, which my mom once stated will happen if I read too many comic books, I think I will get by. XD And hey, who knows? Maybe we'll get to work together some day? That'd be fun!

Yeah people I've met who enjoy he's work often have battered paper backs that they've read over and over again books like that are always the best

mmhmm comics are amazing, they're a lot more daring then many popular novels so I can imagine they're a good source of inspiration. My absolute favorite comic books writer is Brian k vaughan. If you have not read Y the last man or Saga I highly recommend them! Very very inspiring. (Also have you been reading the comic sex criminals? I feel like you'd enjoy it, ignore the name it isn't as bad as it sounds)

haha what does reading comics have to do with where you live xDD but I get what you mean. I think you'd be good to work with in all seriousness, you have a lot of passion for your projects which is infectious/

I always value a good re-read value in books, that way I can justify keeping them in my personal library. Otherwise, they just sit there, unread, collecting dust. It'd be better for those books to be donated to a library rather than slowly rotting on my shelves.

I've heard of those series, just haven't had the pleasure to read them yet! I took a class in comic book writing, so I got a chance to read some of the critically acclaimed AND popular comic books of the last 20-30 years during study time. That was fun, if expensive. ^_^ And I have not heard of Sex Criminals. Have you heard of Sister Claire?

Heh, thanks. ^_^ Speaking of projects, what did you think of Hester's character design and description? If its too complex for a birthday gift, I can show you the abomination character design, which is more concrete; I'd commission you to draw Hester instead. That, or maybe my character Caspar?

Yeah I agree. I know too many people who just buy books to fill up their book cases just to show off...my mum is one of them her and her husband have so many books that have never been read. I find it very annoying x__x

and since that's the case, I HIGHLY recommend those two series when you get the chance to read some new comics. You will not regret it
I have indeed herd of Sister Claire! Yamino is one of my favorite artists and a huge inspiration to me, though I must confess it's been a long, long, loooong time since I read any of that webcomic. I am totally out of the lope with the story, it's certainly something I want to get back into soon.

THANK YOU for reminding me, I need to go and read that note properly now. I've been updating my health blog and working on a picture for my mums birthdays today. It totally skipped my mind. silly me...

Agreed, if someone is just buying books to fill the library, it's just an empty status symbol to say, "Hey, I'm well read and smart!" when someone really isn't. Well, they may be smart, but it's still a lie.

Heh, anything you want to tell me about them before I start reading?Β

Oh, you should definitely get back into reading Sister Claire! If you haven't heard, Yamino has teamed up with another Tumblr user named Ash, an excellent writer! She's really helped Yamino with the series, and they've fleshed out the background characters in a mini-series, "Missing Moments." That, and Yamino and Ash got married about a year ago, and they are just the sweetest couple I know~<3

Oh, happy birthday to her then! Say that your writer friend sends his best wishes!

I'll try and give a rough summery of these comics, though I have made them sound really lame.

-Y THE LAST MAN is set after a massive plague has wiped out all of the men on earth apart from one guy who is our main protag. It deals with this "what if" scenario in a very realistic way and makes for an intriguing read. Plus Yorick (the man) and the other main characters develop a hell of a lot through out the story.
- SAGA...think of it like a trippy star wars, following two star crossed lovers who are traveling across the galaxy to protect their half breed daughter, the couple are very likeable and adorable. The art by Fiona staples is fantastic. Saga is very unique I don't think I've ever seen a world like it.
- SEX CRIMINALS...how can I make this no sound totally stupid. Well its sex postive, and full of witty snappy dialogue and a protag who is a hilarious, well realized female. The premise of this book is certainly unique, its boarding on satire, but I think it's best I don't give it away.

I follow Yamino on Tumblr so I've heard of Ash, I agree with you they are extremely cute <3 I've been meaning to pick it up again...it sounds like it's improved a lot since Ash joined them team. Also fun fact- I almost attended the art college were Yamino did her masters

and that's sweet of you! I'll pass it on

Aaaw so adorable. Derpmoth would probably do the opposite to what an actual moth would do. Most moths fly to the light. Derp moth runs away.

Mothra fights godzilla derpmothra loves and hugs and plays with godzilla

More seriously. I love the fuzzy ness of her ears, around her neck like a lions mane and down her back to her legs.

I find the way you subtlety put her cutie mark in her wings and I like how you have put subtle hints of yellow on her lags and wings to help balance her eyes and hair.

All round cute and another fine example of your artistic talents.
