not really but like BACK FROM THE DEAD.
most of the kingdom thought she was dead. SHE probably thought she was dead for a while there. purgatory or sum nasty stuff like that. since really getting into elena of avalor, i can't stop thinking about that. how conscious was she in the amulet for 41 years? shouldn't she be a little ... unhinged? if she was awake the WHOLE TIME. i figure she might've took about a ten-year nap at some point in the beginning before waking up in a cold sweat like 'OH MAN HOW LONG WAS I OUT' and discovering that she has NO WAY of telling time in there, since she's incorporeal and all. so she just kinda carefully stays awake the rest of the time? once she knows she can get out?
and also, she really ISN'T 16. or even 17! she's old! i figure she wasn't really aging/growing in the amulet since it was a different plane of existence that we can't really comprehend. i'd love to write a fic or something. or get that mf backstory!!!!!!!!! so it kinda makes me mad when abuela tells her "mija, technically you are still sixteen!" because TECHNICALLY, she is NOT.
also, i'd love for elena and esteban to have a bond over the fact that they're the only ones that were awake for those 41 years. isabel and the abuelos didn't feel it! they popped out the painting 41 years later like "damn it got dark! how long's it been, like, five hours?" whereas, elena was like "you would not BELIEVE how stuffy it was in there!" a la night at the museum, and most of esteban's LIFE has gone by. like.......>>>???????????????/ that is MESSED UP. i love elena of avalor sm to be honest? just... dark themes, happy-go-lucky story. i like to think there's a lot of repression going on here hahaha. lots of bottling up inconvenient feelings.
