BEHOLD YOUR FUTURE!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful and restful holiday season. Now that 2019 is over with, I wanted to get back to illustration. I have not had much time to draw for myself over the past 2 years so I'd like to try getting back into that for 2020. I have way too many concepts and half-finished drawings that I've been unable to put to finish and I need to make a reality at some point. This includes comics, which I also want to get back to.

My first artwork of this futuristic year is the fantastical fortune teller Menat from Street Fighter V. The first time I saw the Menat trailer , I fell in love with her design. I super dig the Egypt aesthetic, the glowy orbs, her movements, and her gameplay, which seem like a Street Fighter version of v-13 from BlazBlue. She looked so cool and I was so excited to try her out. Too bad I am utter trash at using Menat in SFV. I still absolutely love her as a character and she's my favorite new character in SFV, followed by Rashid who I also want to draw at some point.

I made this illustration in Clip Studio Paint this time and really wanted to experiment with my own drawing style, especially in the colors. I wanted to approach this less like a comic and more like a painting. While it has been a while since I've done major illustration work for myself, I really tried to apply a few tricks, concepts, and ideas in coloring and compositioning this piece, as well as being a bit more loose in my personal style. I designed her dynamic pose similar to a Win Screen in a classic fighting game, specifically the Marvel Vs Capcom games. Imagine this kind of art featuring with a snarky win quote. I had a lot of fun experimenting with this one.

Menat can tell the future and she can see your 2020 going great!
