While writing and literature are indeed part of the arts, this person's icons seem to be tailored for the visual side. Notice, there aren't any icons for music either.

Quite true, it just kinda saddens me that it got a DD and doesn't even mention literature(or music!). Especially with the recent "journals are literature and in the devitation category" move they just pulled.

Still, specificity should be included if that was indeed what he meant. I'm not saying the current formats he proposed are invalid; I'm just wondering why literature is often left out.

Maybe so, but the exclusion of literature implies that it is NOT art. Now, to be fair, he may not have intended that. Just something that'd be wise to fix, that's all I'm saying.
