It's fun to know that he did bring that lady friend home with him at the end. The flowers had probably died by then (hence their absence from the picture...plus, I can't draw flowers), but better late than never. And their new apartment was NICE. It needed no flowers...

It's a shame that I wimped out on making the cool background and having the whole room behind them, but night skies are fun and they make the lighting easier to work with. And the windows are sweet...but shutters are hard.

An idea I've had for AGES, even before the show was over...Iroh, Zuko, and Mai all together in a picture. But I never guessed that it would actually end up with them retiring after a day of working at the teashop (come on, what else is Mai going to do when they go to visit?), having a few drinks (sick of tea is like being sick of breathing!), and swapping stories ("So, this one time, Zuko thought that he could go under the lake and steal Appa and hide him in our apartment!"/"I believe it."/*sulk*).

I guess Iroh made some comment about the two of them here, because it's blushy-time for the two of them. Young lovers....being social. Making connections. Enjoying tea. You know, the usual!

I'm actually pretty happy with this one. I spent time on it, you see. Lots of it. And Zuko actually looks like Zuko. I think. His bangs are a little high, but I prefer it when he's a little more trimmed.

I totally chickened out on drawing hands in this piece, but the one hand that's showing (five out of six hands are hidden in one way or another) didn't turn out too poorly. I should probably have chopped the table down a bit, but I based it on the one in their apartment and liked the panoramic feel...download if you want to see the larger version.

Done primarily in Paint...blushes required some Open Canvas airbrushing, and there was some resizing and blurring done with IrfanView, but all-in-all, I stuck with the tradition.

Now, to memorize fifty poems by Catullus.
