An addition to my worldbuilding project, Solemn Space.

The XA/EXE Type-91 Xingren combat platform is the latest model of vacuum-capable powered armor issued to the Interstellar Liberation Army’s Cosmotrooper Divisions. Replacing the aging Type-87 model, the Type-91 was introduced shortly before the Soria-Kaizen Asteroid Conflict and rapidly proved a worthy opponent towards the Outer Space Alliance’s own Model 55s.

With an internal power battery generating up to 80 petawatts of energy, the Type-91 is fitted with micro thrusters on the legs, arms, back and front capable of propelling the platform at accelerations up to 5 G, and can launch at speeds up to around 200km/h on Earth-like planets. An advanced impact gel harness protects the pilot from intense g-forces.

The pilot can see with four optical sensors fitted on the front and the back of the helmet and torso, with effective telescopic range of 300km in perfect conditions. Furthermore, one optical sensor is fitted on each arm cannon, acting as sights for when in combat. All information is displayed for the pilot on their heads-up display. Like all combat platforms, it comes with an onboard medical unit that heals any wounds the pilot may have sustained.

Thanks to new and improved magnetic shielding, the Type-91 is protected from stellar radiation, hazardous environments and magnetized projectiles. Nano-composite plastigraphene armor is capable of withstanding forces upwards to 6 megajoules, while point-defense laser systems ensure protection from 90% of incoming projectiles.

For armament, the Type-91 has two Type-91-05 multi-weapons on each arm. 21mm rotary auto-cannons fire depleted firoleum rounds for combat closer than 2,000m, while missile launchers fire 45mm bio-seeker grenades for combat exceeding 2,000m. For defense against heavier opponents it comes equipped with a back-mounted Type-91-Z6 thermic missile launcher, capable of making short work of tanks, mechs and even small spacecraft.
