You there my friend, come let me hold you.  And now, with a sigh, you grow warm in my hand.  My hand, my tortured friend... Even at 15 when I first saw the film version, I felt like I understood Sweeney's character on some level, so dead set on revenge and cynical about the world that nothing else mattered to him.  I will admit to having part of my adult character shaped by him, as I err on the side of hyper-cautious when interacting with new people and don't rely on others' help when I can afford it; the inherent desire of most men is to screw their fellow man, or woman, over, at least in my mind.
P.S.  Fun fact:  whenever I watch Sweeney Todd, I think of my junior year of high school.  While parading about in a series of costumes and responding to prompts, including Mrs. Lovett singing "By the Sea" one day, in order to get my class ring in high school, I needed to find the other half to a phrase to get a ribbon that would act as my ring until Sunday of that week.  I didn't end up finding the teacher (I knew a lot of them by appearance, if not by first name, my school was so small.), but I knew the phrase immediately once I found the response for my "At last..."  As I gaze at my white gold ring sometimes, I can't help but muse, "...my arm is complete again."
