Description

A more simple picture, but I was pretty excited to upload this one (The hand is off, but I did my best ;v; )

This was going to just be a hand study, but my fingers were wrapped in bandaids from my kitten and I was thinking a lot about people who declaw their cats, so I got inspired to try something a little different.

When you get a cat, you have to be prepared to get scratched. That’s just the side effect of housing a specialised hunter with foot knives. There are five reasons you’ll get scratched.
1 - Your cat is clumsy and will accidentally claw you when they slip
2 - Your cat is kneading on you and doesn’t know how to knead -claws
3 - Your cat is being playful and got carried away. (My cat’s are very gentle when they play but still scratch me accidentally)
4 - Your cat got spooked while you were holding them. They flail with their claws out and you end up bleeding
5 - You’ve hurt/scared/stressed/aggravated your cat. The worst clawings I’ve had are when I’ve accidentally pressed a sore spot on my cat and she retaliated.

Point is, cats don’t scratch because they’re malicious, and cutting out their toes is a very cruel way to stop them. The other ‘reason’ people have their cats declawed is to save their furniture. Sticky tape and scratching posts friends.

You wouldn’t pull out your dog’s teeth to stop them chewing the furniture or to stop the potential of them maybe biting someone one day. Don’t mutilate your cats’ feet for your convenience.

Let me know what you think
