Backstory

Celestia & Thorax married each other for politic purposes. Not saying they didn't like each other but they tried to figure out their relationship for many years. In the midst of it, Celestia got pregnant and in the following months it was clear that they did not work out. But they made a deal to stay together until their child reaches a certain age to divorce. So they will give their foal a petty normal foal-hood and after they separate still be in their lives when it gets older.

Celestia's labor was pretty hard if you would have asked her about that very day. It was the first time an alicorn had given birth from another species other than her own. So most doctors were on high alert on whats to come. Thorax was way too nervous to get into the Pregnancy room, so he begged Luna to go to her. Princess Luna was not happy how her BiL handled this situation but went inside anyway to support her older sister.

Both sisters became anxious, while they witnessed Cadence having Flurry Heart, it still was something rare to go through being alicorns themselves.

But all the hard work payed off and they welcomed a healthy unicorn filly into the world. The mares were confused why she looked so ordinary and yet so unfamiliar. Then they saw it. One, then two, little flicks stood apart of the ears. The princesses had no clue on to why they were on her daughter but Thorax, after some Relaxation exercises, figured that it might be a remnant of his own genes. And they could somewhat see what he meant.

One year later, Celestia & Thorax are still 'married' in the republics eyes. In reality they already came to terms with their own feelings. And sure enough they were not that drawn to each other as they had hoped. The only silver-lining they had for each other, was their daughter, Rainy Wing.

Luna could not fathom on what a unfitting name they had given her. She was a unicorn. And yellow-green on top of that. Not only the princess of the night had their worries over the naming choice, but the princess and King were sure that they wanted to keep it that way. Rainy certainly was a funny one as a foal. Once her eyes developed further, her eyes surprised even her parents. Believing that the odd coloration might have some side effects for their daughter, they went straight to the oculist. They couldn't find anything worrisome other than the darker shading, her eyesight was perfectly normal. It was just another thing she got from her father with his own eyes. In the end of the day they themselves had to admit that Rainy's eyes were actually very pretty otherwise.

Years go by and Rainy had a long talk with her parents. She nearly 10 so they decided to make it official with their divorce, but they still wanted to tell their kid first b4 they tell their subjects. Rain was sad on hearing this. But she couldn't deny that her parents felt off with their interactions. They were not lovely-dovey with each other, like Flurry's parents did, or considerate with each-other like Twilight and Flash Sentry. So this news was not as sad as she hoped it would have been.

Her life continued as normal. Her parents split up, sure, but she still gets to visit her dad and they spent time together at festivals.

One such day, Thorax invited her, Celestia and even her aunt, Luna to go to a new attraction at Las Pegasus. First the mares hesitated, they were not so keen on going to such a crowded place, not to forget that they could lose Rainy under all those visitors. Rainy still wanted to go and begged them to let her visit. Defeated by the young girl's persistence they agreed to go together. But only with one or 2 more guards. The unicorn was not necessarily happy about the extra eyes watching them but all that was forgotten once she finally got on to the new attraction.

Hours later, the 3 adults were pretty tired, even though the young kid was still jumping from one end to another. They wanted to relax by watching a magic show nearby and so they did. The show was alright, Rainy Wing was not too excited by the magician's tricks. In her opinion, they was too plain.

For the next act he took a cloud on the stage changed its shape into a star. Then a Tree and so on. Out of boredom she decided to play some prank on the poor magic performer. First she would disperse the forms he was making and let them dance around the stage. But she didn't stop there. One of the clouds flew over one of the guests and let it rain on him. But somehow she manged to transform the rain into feathers. The next victim was met with a shower of apple cores. Some guests were laughing while others got scared. Celestia finally caught her in the act. and once the show was finally over she made her daughter apologize to the actor. But he was not really mad. He was actually very impressed by her magic.

His praises got her thinking and she finally decided to make something with her newly found hobby. She let her guards gather some clouds on which she practiced on for a week straight. The hard work paid off. Once she knew what she wanted to do with her magic her cutie mark appeared. Thorax was excited for his little girl. Celestia not so much. But as she saw what her daughter could do with her talent, and how to help some of the less fortunate citizens that had a rough year at farming and what not, she recognized her calling and gave her the official title as the 'Young Lady of the Sky'.

Years later, in her mid teens, she met some new ponies coming to Canterlot. They introduced themselves as Dreampaw and Golden Paradise. Their reason for the visit was to get some books they couldn't find elsewhere. Offering her help, the unicorn brought them both to her favorite library outside the castle. They got talking, and that was when she got to know about their own homeland. the more she listened the more she wanted to go. Golden had nothing against it, his companion was not so sure about the idea. But as the stubborn mare she was, Rainy asked her parents right away to let her go with them.

Thorax convinced his ex wife to let her study their culture, and after meeting with the newcomers, the princess agreed to it eventually.

That's how she ended up living in Donar, and frequently visit Equestria as much as she could. The best thing about it was that she and Dancing Aurora didn't cross paths all that often.
