Description I have a(pretty common but also not quite) headcannon wherein warrior cats look like their names. Lemme explain

After an apprentice gets their ceremony and sits their vigil, they take the appearance of their name overnight. Like through devine intervention. When it comes to physical names,(1, Bearclaw) it will be more obvious. Due to this, leaders and parents will try to figure out the optimal name for a kit before their apprenticeship, then reconfigure it shortly before their ceremony(unless parents are dead, then it goes to the next in line. Parental figures > older siblings > siblings > close friends > mentor.) At least in my AU. Canon is not like this lmao. This would explain things like Firestar having bright orange fur or firey markings in some depictions of him. Hollyleaf's spiky fluff to look like holly leaves(in my version of her anyway, idk about yall) and etc etc.

In my characters,(save for Cheeselettuce who is the exception because how the fuck do you look like that) I like to be more free with it.(2, Slugfur. Looks like a slug.) The appearance is mostly tied to suffif, though if you have an abstract prefix it might be more uhhh different. Touching on that later. Of course, the suffix is not the only influence. Tiger(claw)star would not have ginormous claws like a tiger. He looks like a tiger and has webbed feets like a RiverClanner(he is not). He is also very good at swimming, in my AU logic.

Loners and rogues that have gained the attention of StarClan or the DarkForest(like Barley or Rock or Scourge for example) may also have this kind of effect. Scourge may be depicted with a Scourge tail, which is a whip. Yes, he would hit people with it.

Back to abstract names. In times of crisis(or just because) leaders will allow parents to give their kits exotic names in the hopes of them being blessed by Starclan.(5, 6, and 7). This does not always turn out how they might like, of course. Hiddenprowl is never completely invisible. This cat actually sucks at being sneaky. But that's okay, because their power is being incredibly unsuspecting. So much so, in fact, that they get lost while on patrol because cats can't always recognize them if they don't clarify that they are there. This has led to a lot of infighting and mistaken abductions. Skippace is not fast like their mother had hoped.(To be fair, why not just name her Quickpace?) She is cursed with only being able to skip when not running, which has made hunting and patrolling very hard. She almost retired into the elder's den due to this, being unable to stalk properly and incapable of fighting coherently. Tensions are very high in this family. Shattereddream, a rogue who joined TruthClan in hopes of changing his appearance to look 'cool' or so he claims, instead stumped the stars in trying to figure out what to do with this. Blighted with eternal nightmares and some weird ass squiggly crack marking on his face, he regrets not going with Shadowframe or something.

Cats CAN argue to have their names and therefore powers changed, but the Stars have to agree. You will be taken to the glistening pier(or wherever) and argue your point. Taking a dip in the water after this will either shed your alteration(painfully) or just get you soaking wet and laughed at by dead guys. You may then change your name. Rogues, loners, and kittypets do not have to do this. Cats with ableist names or otherwise offensive ones will also not have to do this. (Crookedjaw would, therefore, be able to change his name if he wanted and his leader let him.)

Atheists are unaffected by this entirely. Mothwing could change her name to. idfk Godspeed and nothing would happen.

All that being said.. StarClan likes to troll sometimes in this AU and your name is who you are.
